Grandma’s Easy Chicken and Mushroom Crockpot Recipe! Sierra Uses a Slow Cooker to Make a Memorable Recipe

Sierra and I are happy to announce that we have our own website now. Thanks to all the support and encouragement from the community. The new site will allow us to have much more flexibility with our content. I hope you will join us at our new website www.cookwithsierra.com (Please feel free to follow this link to our new site)

Step 1: Brown the Chicken

(Note: You can skip this step. Browning the chicken for this Crockpot recipe adds flavor but it will not ruin this recipe if you decide the recipe does not need it)
First step of this Crockpot recipe is to brown the outside of the chicken. Sierra puts a couple tablespoons of Olive Oil in the bottom of a pan. Then the parent turns the heat up to medium-high.

Place a portion of the chicken in the pan do not over crowd the chicken cook the chicken in batches. If the oil is too hot and is splattering too much turn down the heat a little bit to make cooking this chicken recipe a bit more kid friendly.
Just like most chicken recipes you will want to add salt and pepper.

As the chicken begins to cook turn them. The goal is not to cook the chicken all the way through just to cook the skin.
When the chicken is cooked enough place the chicken in your crockpot.

Step 2: The Sauce
Now the recipe calls for the cream of mushroom soup.Instead of adding the contents directly into the slow cooker like grandma used to. Open the can of soup and add the contents to a mixing bowl.
Open your cans of chicken broth. Add the Chicken broth to the empty mushroom soup can. Stir to get the rest of the mushroom soup off the sides of the can.
Pour the chicken broth into the mixing bowl.
Mix well.
Add two tablespoons of soy sauce to the chicken and cream of mushroom soup mixture.
This recipe is great with a bit of garlic salt. You can choose your own special spices that your family enjoys at this step.
The Crockpot chicken recipe is almost done!

Step 3: Putting the recipe together!
Pour the chicken broth mix onto the slow cooker.
Put the lid on the slow cooker.
This recipe looks and smells delicious.
Set the timer on your crockpot. You can stir your crockpot every couple hours if you want or just leave the crockpot alone until the chicken is done. We chose a 6 hour timer because that was the time that Sierra's mom would get home. Using a crockpot gives you the flexibility to have the chicken ready when you are. Therefore, choosing a longer cooking time would not be a bad thing for this recipe.

This meal is best served in a bowl over rice. I use a ladle to get soup with the chicken. I suggest eating Grandma’s Chicken and mushroom soup with a spoon. Chicken should be very soft watch for bones. Mmmmm enjoy!
